A municipal theater company created based on the longstanding aspiration of 2.5 million citizens and local culture and arts communities
Established on December 4, 1998, the Daegu Metropolitan Theater Company stages theatrical art performances with a focus on artistic value, public interest, and popularity. Since the beginning, the theater company has staged some of the most challenging masterpieces, classics, and experimental works, and is striving to promote the development of creative plays and maintain a stable repertoire. Moreover, the company gives regular, special, and invitational performances and offers a training course on theater for the general public every year.
Composed of 16 members, including the art director, the Daegu Metropolitan Theater Company was founded in response to the long-held wishes of Daegu citizens and local culture and arts communities for the formation of just such a theater group. Striving to live up to the people’s expectations and satisfy citizens’ demand for theater, the company is dedicated to creating and staging sophisticated plays and performances based on the emotions of citizens.
