Daegu City Traditional Music Orchestra
Creating a Capital
for Culture and the Arts
That Celebrates
Traditional Culture
Founded in May 1984, the Daegu City Traditional Music Orchestra strives to preserve and pass on our traditional music as an orchestra representing Korea. It also aims to popularize and modernize Korean traditional music and dance and integrate them into daily life, working to bring these arts deeper into citizens’ lives.
The Daegu City Korean Traditional Orchestra, featuring a full traditional orchestra ensemble alongside Korean dance and samulnori percussion, offers a comprehensive repertoire of traditional Korean music, dance, and song. Through its four annual regular concerts, special themed performances, international and regional exchange concerts, Night of Korean Dance, Night of Youth Concertos, and Sarangbang Concerts, as well as a balanced performance sensibility that harmonizes tradition and modernity, it creates a fresh and distinctive Korean cultural environment, leading the development of local culture.
Moving forward, the Daegu City Traditional Music Orchestra will continue to spearhead efforts to further enhance the value of our music while also popularizing and modernizing Korean music and bringing it into people’s daily lives, thereby elevating the status of Korean traditional culture.
