Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir
Aiming to Be
Korea’s Finest
Municipal Children’s
Choir
The Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir was founded on May 1, 1981, to give local youth more opportunities to enjoy cultural experiences. The Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir has a rich history, having given 131 regular concerts since its founding.
The choir has performed extensively in Korea and overseas, including the World Vision Korea Children’s Choir Festival, New York tour, Korea Children’s Choir Convention, joint concert with Vienna Boys Choir, joint concert with Cantemus Children’s Choir, celebratory concert for Daegu’s designation as a Culture City of East Asia, World Water Day event, Children’s Day performance at Cheongwadae, and UNESCO Creative Cities Network Digital Forum. Through these events, the Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir promotes Korean culture to international audiences while leading efforts to make culture and the arts more accessible to local youth.
The Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir was especially well-received nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic for its online video content. It continues to engage in meaningful endeavors such as its 129th regular concert, which served as a tribute to Yoon Bok-jin, the celebrated children’s poet/songwriter and Daegu native.
In 2025, the Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir featured in the Daegu Day commemoration event at the Hiroshima Flower Festival and commemorative concert for the Gyeongju APEC Summit. Both events successfully showcased the Daegu City Boys and Girls Choir’s musical prowess as well as Daegu Metropolitan City’s commitment to the arts.
